Introducing the Poppy-Dahlia Adventure Series

Lost at the Pinnacles introduces a new fiction book series. These are middle grade YA readers that empower kids (especially girls) to embrace the challenges life throws at you while traveling to interesting locations.

One story, written as two books, told from each sister’s perspective.

In the first book, read the story from Anna Dahlia’s viewpoint. Continue with the second book to increase comprehension, add extra details, and story variations with the story seen from her sister Zoe’s point of view.

Reading a book twice can dramatically increase reader comprehension. However, encouraging readers to read a story twice can be tough.

Providing the same story from another character’s point of view, bringing a change in perspective, and some alternate storylines will excite readers to take a deeper dive into what they have just read.

Plus, we throw in a great supplemental section in the back with more information you can use on your next trip, story summaries with chapter breakdowns, and comprehension questions you can ask your readers.

Lost at the Pinnacles

Left or right, which path should they take?

It was getting dark, and Anna Dahlia did not know the way back to their campsite. If only she had brought her flashlight. This was not the adventure she had expected.

Middle-schooler Anna Dahlia and her younger sister, Zoe, are on a last-minute camping trip with their Papa and some family friends. This surprise trip to Pinnacles National Park was not what she envisioned.

  • Was the animal foraging around their campsite at night dangerous?

  • Will Zoe discover a family of bats without getting lost in the caves?

  • Can Anna Dahlia overcome her claustrophobia?

  • Who might have their first kiss?

  • And will they earn their Junior Ranger badges?

Who would have thought a weekend camping getaway would be so fraught with misadventure!

What else might happen to our dauntless adventurers, and will they all find their way back to the campsite before it gets dark?

Read this exciting travel adventure to find out.

Separated on the Paris Metro

Anna Dahlia pounded on the door of the Metro to let her in, but the train lurched forward and started to move.

Running over to look through the window where her younger sister, Zoe, and cousin, Thibault, sat on their own, she yelled, “go to Thibault’s house!” She watched helplessly as the train disappeared into the tunnel.

Anna Dahlia, a middle school girl on a family vacation in Paris, wants to prove her independence and show how responsible she can be. She never thought it would be this hard.

Anna Dahlia’s purse is stolen while boarding a connecting train on the Paris Metro. To make matters worse, it had a valuable family heirloom inside. She is left without directions, phone, or wallet. No one is around to help.

  • Will she avoid a panic attack?

  • Where will she find help?

  • How will she make her way?

  • Can her sister and cousin manage on their own?

This wasn’t the vacation she expected.

“Hey Papa!

Where are we going this weekend?”

— What do your kids ask you at the start of the weekend?
