Corona Virus Blues

Similar to a lot of folks out there, starting Monday my kids will start distance learning. Our local schools have closed their campuses till at least April, and possibly longer because of Spring Break or further changes in our new normal.

For the moment, we can still go outside. But from what I've heard from family in Italy, this might change. We can still visit our local park for a walk, maybe get the bikes out and do a local bike ride, possibly even go for a hike. However, a lot of my usual options for weekend adventures with the kids are quickly being taken off the table regardless of the precautions we might take.

Personally, I'm trying to remain present, prepare as best I can manage, and keep a positive outlook. Honestly, though, it's already feeling tough.

Around the house, I'm trying to find things to break up the monotony, try a new recipe for dinner, weed my little garden pots, clean…

The one thing I can look forward to is getting back out for regular weekend adventures. These trips bring me happiness. Which makes this opportunity of being stuck home my chance to make some plans.

I've had this idea for a book detailing weekend adventures around the San Francisco Bay Area for quite a while. This seems like as good of a time to put that idea into practice. And why not share it with all of you?

52 San Francisco Bay Area Weekend Adventures, Day Trips With Your Kids!

“What are we doing this weekend?”

Such an innocent question. What are we doing this weekend? Your inner voice echo’s the question, both you and your kid are eager for the answer.

Over the next few weeks, I’m planning on publishing itineraries for a year worth of weekend day trips you can enjoy with your family around the San Francisco Bay Area. Many of the trips are ones I’ve enjoyed before and look forward to revisiting, and others are ones on my to-visit list.

Each trip will average 3 locations within close proximity. Each location could be a day trip on its own, but listing 3 locations gives us a fallback opportunity if our primary destination doesn’t work out. Or we can set aside these secondary locations for a later trip.

So, while we remain stuck at home longing to get out for a weekend trip, I’m considering this as an opportunity to plan some adventures and let my daydreams get out and stretch their legs.
