Destination: Visit Snoopy, Santa Rosa
Visit the Charles Schultz Museum, skate with Snoopy, and explore The Sonoma Children's Museum
This is part of a series of family-oriented day trip outings around the San Francisco Bay Area I look forward to enjoying with my kids once social distancing and shelter in place isn’t the norm any longer.
Social Isolation — Day 45
Almost two weeks ago, I received my CARES Act payment of $1200 from the IRS direct deposited into my bank account. Luckily I set up direct deposit a couple of years back for tax refunds.
Our President decided to delay paper checks so that his name could appear on them, which was such a waste of time and money American’s desperately needed. I guess since I missed the opportunity to see his signature on a check, he found it necessary for the IRS to pay for sending me a letter with his crayon signature at the bottom, notifying me that I already got a payment — lucky me.
What a waste of money!

Author’s note: These places have been on my to-visit list for ages, and I’m still looking forward to visiting once our shelter in place orders relax a bit. I’m sharing my research with you for your own day out in the near future.
Visit The Charles Schultz Museum
Peanuts comic strip creator Charles Schultz has a big presence in Santa Rosa over the past 50 years, even though the Museum opened a couple of years after his death in 2000. The Museum celebrates his life’s work and the art of cartooning. You can visit a recreation of his studio, enjoy a rotation of classic comic strips, learn about the cultural impact of various characters, and so much more. Don’t forget to take a picture with Snoopy!
Skate With Snoopy
Charles Schultz has a love for ice skating, and in 1969 he built the Redwood Empire Ice Arena (now known as Snoopy’s Home Ice) and is enjoyed by many locals today.
Explore The Sonoma Children’s Museum
This place has a ton of hands-on activities and projects kids of all ages can enjoy. It looks similar to the Discovery Museums in San Jose or Sausalito.
