Details about the Poppy Dahlia Series

The Poppy-Dahlia Adventure series isn’t your average read.

One story, written as two books, told from each sister’s perspective.

In the first book, you will read the story from Anna Dahlia’s point of view. Then, continue with the second book to increase comprehension, add extra details, and story variations with the same story seen from her sister Zoe’s viewpoint.

Reading a book twice can dramatically increase reader comprehension. However, encouraging readers to read a story twice can be tough.

Providing the same story from another character’s point of view, bringing a change in perspective, and some alternate storylines will excite readers to take a deeper dive into what they have just read.

Book 1 - Lost at the Pinnacles

Left or right, which path should they take?

It was getting dark, and Anna Dahlia did not know the way back to their campsite. If only she had brought her flashlight. This was not the adventure she had expected.

Middle-schooler Anna Dahlia and her younger sister, Zoe, are on a last-minute camping trip with their Papa and some family friends. This surprise trip to Pinnacles National Park was not what she envisioned.

  • Was the animal foraging around their campsite at night dangerous?

  • Will Zoe discover a family of bats without getting lost in the caves?

  • Can Anna Dahlia overcome her claustrophobia?

  • Who might have their first kiss?

  • And will they earn their Junior Ranger badges?

Who would have thought a weekend camping getaway would be so fraught with misadventure!

What else might happen to our dauntless adventurers, and will they all find their way back to the campsite before it gets dark?

Read this exciting travel adventure to find out.

Book 2 - Separated on the Paris Metro

Anna Dahlia pounded on the door of the Metro to let her in, but the train lurched forward and started to move.

Running over to look through the window where her younger sister, Zoe, and cousin, Thibault, sat on their own, she yelled, “go to Thibault’s house!” She watched helplessly as the train disappeared into the tunnel.

Anna Dahlia, a middle school girl on a family vacation in Paris, wants to prove her independence and show how responsible she can be. She never thought it would be this hard.

Anna Dahlia’s purse is stolen while boarding a connecting train on the Paris Metro. To make matters worse, it had a valuable family heirloom inside. She is left without directions, phone, or wallet. No one is around to help.

  • Will she avoid a panic attack?

  • Where will she find help?

  • How will she make her way?

  • Can her sister and cousin manage on their own?

This wasn’t the vacation she expected.

Book 3 - Shaken in San Francisco (in process)

This one is still in the outline stage. Here is what I’m expecting from this story. I don’t have the blurb for the back cover written yet.

Anna Dahlia & Zoe’s cousin Marigold comes for a visit. She is making her final decision on what Art college to attend in the Fall, she has been accepted into several around the SF Bay Area.

Anna Dahlia attends a function with Marigold at the Art Institute when a large earthquake strikes. They have to cross the city and find their way home through a blacked-out city. At the same time, Zoe and her mom are on a tour of Alcatraz with Marigold’s mom and younger brother when the earthquake strikes.

Will they all manage to find their way home?
